For my VIS 207 class with Professor Sklaney, I built a scroll story site centered around Movember, the men's health awareness campaign. My target audience was college-aged men, a group that tends to disengage from anything that feels too clinical or preachy, so I designed the whole thing to feel bold and approachable rather than overly polished.
I pulled a lot of inspiration directly from Movember's own website, staying true to their black and white color palette and minimal aesthetic. For typefaces, I used Koulen for all the big display text since it is an all-caps condensed sans-serif that feels strong and direct, and Konkhmer Sleokchher for body copy to add some texture while keeping it readable.
One of the bigger challenges was adapting the content for a scroll story format versus a static carousel. I had to think about pacing and make sure each section could stand on its own before flowing into the next. Figma was genuinely confusing at times, but looking back at where my lo-fi and hi-fi roughs started versus where the final product ended up, I am proud of how far the project came.
